Guess who is discovering sand as a mark-making tool? Toddlers in Teddington!
Children started to use their fingers to draw into the sand and marvelled at their marks. Look at all those lines, circles, zig zags and loops! This activity can promote fine and gross motor skills, different grips, and control over their bodies, as well as improve their hand-eye coordination which will all be used when they come to write. Plus it is a great sensory experience too! ⌛✍️

How to brighten up a gloomy day? ☀️ Our children at Ham Nursery had a fantastic time visiting the horses nearby, feeding them fresh grass snacks, and sharing some heart-warming moments! Interacting with animals is not just fun but also incredibly therapeutic, helping children build empathy and confidence- plus, it’s a great way to practice new words! Our pre-schoolers in Kingston were mastering their fine motor skills by threading tiny beads (with or without needles). Not only did they have fun, but they also practiced their scissor skills and got super creative designing their own beautiful bracelets!📿
Threading activities are amazing for early years development: they help improve hand-eye coordination, enhance concentration, and strengthen those tiny finger muscles. Plus, they encourage creativity and patience.

What to do with leftover paint?
Add a splash of water and a sprinkle of glitter for a magical, fun-filled experience! ✨

Our pre-schoolers in Brentford had an absolute blast squeezing watery paint and glitter onto a tuff tray filled with salt. They created unique patterns, mixed colours, and practice their pre-writing hand movements- all while enjoying the process rather than focusing on the final product.
Who knew leftovers could turn into such an adventure? 😊
